UPDATE: GO HERE TO HEAR THE FULL INTERVIEW. Oh. My. God.
On Wednesday, January 28, 2009, Melissa Etheridge will be a guest on Michaelangelo Signorile’s show on Sirius OUT Q satellite radio, as MA mentions in his blog. Following the gay and gay-friendly blogosphere implosion when the singer explained Pastor Rick Warren didn’t mean all those nasty things he said about the Gay nation—things like comparing us to pedophiles and perverts and incest practitioners. The Daily Horse had four blogposts about the issue, here and here and here and here(the video).
As we’ve said, we do not agree with Melissa, we resent Rick Warren using her as his apologist (regardless of whether or not she was willing), we think she should use her new friendship with Warren to suggest he make his apology to the Gay nation, and while we applaud her good heart and top talent, we think Melissa needs to rethink this one.
Should we offer her the same spirit of benefit of the doubt that she gave Rick Warren? Will she give him the 411 on why a public apology from him to the Gay nation would be a necessary first step? Is Melissa going to step up and acknowledge that she understands why so many people were so upset with her? Let’s listen to Signorile’s show and find out.
